Eagle Rock Elementary School first opened in 1884, but now it has turned into a historical school in the historical area of Eagle Rock. The first school was a barn donated by Milton Brown on Addison Way. The first formally built school had nine classrooms, a large library, a science department, a dining room, and a teacher’s restroom, an office for the principal, a waiting room, and an auditorium that had seating for 500 people. It was meant to be a small school but it was truly made to be a large, diverse school for all students who desire to attend.

In 1921, Eagle Rock Elementary School was moved and rebuilt on Fair Park Avenue. The first structure, built in 1921, was the auditorium and west wing of campus with red and white wall paint and oak wood seats. During the same time, the main building which has the main office, principal’s office, vice principal’s office, 2 restrooms, and 18 classrooms. During the years it added where the kindergarten classrooms are today plus bungalows to help with our growing population. Then the Wilkins Building was built around 15 years ago equipped with 6 classrooms, 2 large restrooms, and a janitorial use room. After that, 2 sets of bungalows were made as early as 10 years ago equipped with 4 classrooms. Eagle Rock Elementary School is a large structured school that was made for the highest level of teaching and curriculum.

Eagle Rock Elementary is a school that has many fun times and events. The school had a harvest festival which was started for fundraisers for the Parent Teacher Association, or P.T.A. It had a Halloween Festival every year on Halloween’s Day and there was also food and games. There was a Thanksgiving Luncheon every Thanksgiving and the lunch break for teachers and students were extended by 15 minutes. The school had an ice cream social each where classes were posted and ice cream was given out to every student and parent who attended. The school had fundraisers 2-3 times each year where prizes such as electronics, collectables, and novelty items were given out. Eagle Rock Elementary School had assemblies weekly to announce the latest issues and events. Eagle Rock Elementary School is a very social school that has many fun times and events.
