Principal's Weekly Newsletter

Greetings Eagle Rock Elementary & Magnet Center Families and Staff,

I am pleased to report that the first week of school has been a great success! It has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces on both the students and staff. We are off to a great start for the new academic year.

Our team of teachers and staff has been working hard to make sure that everything is in place for a successful school year. Our students have been eager to learn, enthusiastic about their lessons, and have shown an eagerness to be back in the classroom. The first week of school has been filled with excitement, fun and a lot of learning!

In addition to academic work, we have also been focusing on building a positive school culture. We have been emphasizing the importance of kindness, respect, and responsibility. We believe that these values are vital for creating a positive and supportive learning environment. We encourage you to reinforce these values at home by having conversations with your child about their experiences at school.

While the first week of school has been a great success, there is still much to accomplish this year. We have many exciting events and activities planned for the upcoming months, such as field trips, classroom projects, and school-wide events. We will continue to work hard to provide the best possible education for our students, and we look forward to working with you throughout the year to achieve this goal.

Thank you for your continued support, and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Attendance

Regular attendance is vital for academic success, as it allows students to fully engage in the learning process and benefit from classroom discussions and activities. It also fosters a sense of responsibility and discipline that will serve them well throughout their lives.

We kindly request parents and guardians to prioritize their child's attendance by ensuring they arrive at school on time and ready to learn. Should your child be unable to attend due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances, please notify the school as soon as possible. Our dedicated staff is here to support you and work collaboratively to find solutions to any attendance challenges that may arise.

We also urge our staff members to maintain a vigilant approach towards monitoring and addressing absenteeism. By promptly identifying and intervening in cases of chronic absenteeism, we can provide the necessary support to help students overcome barriers to regular attendance.

We will hold our monthly coffee with principal meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 8:15 a.m. in the Parent Center. The topics will include student attendance, academic achievement, and student behavior.

Every School Safe (ESS)

Los Angeles Unified is committed to providing every student in our District with a safe learning environment. As a part of the Every School Safe: Blueprint for Safety, throughout the 2024-2025 school year, students will be taught strategies to help them recognize concerns and how to ask for help.  Students throughout LAUSD will participate in the six (6) presentations during assemblies, and advisory/homeroom as identified in the table below.

Lost & Found

We kindly ask for your help in ensuring that your child's belongings make their way back home each day. With a significant number of items ending up in the lost and found, it would be greatly beneficial if you could write your child's name on their sweaters, jackets, lunch boxes, water bottles, and other personal items. This simple step will help us quickly identify and return lost items to their rightful owners. Thank you for your support!
